Senior RA – Organoids

Volastra is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate (SRA) for an in vitro biology lab-based role. Our ideal candidate is an independent thinker who may provide insights towards experiment design and interpretation and is also a team player who may take on responsibilities outside his/her scope of work. The candidate should have a track-record of consistent experimentation, experience with in vitro assays relevant to cancer biology, integrity, and tangible contributions to biopharmaceutical drug programs and/or peer-reviewed publications. The primary responsibility of the SRA will be to maintain and execute experiments on 3D tumor organoid cultures, which may in include growth or morphological assays, genetic modification, and confocal or high-content immunofluorescence microscopy. The results of which will contribute to target identification and drug development to fuel Volastra’s pipeline of therapeutics for the treatment of metastatic cancer. Job title and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Required Skills:

  • 2D tissue culture (such as cancer cell lines)
  • 3D organoid culture
  • Confocal and/or high-content microscopy
  • In vitro phenotypic assays such as proliferation, cytotoxicity, migration or invasion
  • Stable cell line generation (Lentiviral transduction, overexpression, RNAi and/or CRISPR/Cas9)
  • Data analysis and presentation through software such as Graphpad Prism, Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Record-keeping via electronic lab notebook
  • Time management to independently meet deadlines

Preferred Skills (but not required):

  • Western Blot
  • RT-qPCR
  • Flow Cytometry
  • In vivo tumor models
  • Benchling inventory/registry/ELN system


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as cell biology or cancer biology
  • 5-10+ years laboratory experience in an academic and/or industry setting
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
