Robert Mittendorff, M.D., MBA

Dr. Robert Mittendorff is a General Partner and the Global Head of Healthcare at B Capital, where he leads venture and growth investments across the sector. In addition to serving on Volastra’s Board of Directors, he currently sits on the boards of several innovative healthcare companies, including CapitalRx, Carlsmed, Nalu Medical, Lively, Triumvira, Atomwise, and Carrick, among others.

Prior to joining B Capital, Dr. Mittendorff spent nearly a decade at Norwest Venture Partners as Partner and Co-Head of Healthcare. Earlier in his career, he held operating and advisory roles that spanned portfolio strategy at Merck, management consulting at Boston Consulting Group, and service as an emergency physician at Kaiser Permanente. His experience includes investing, complex business development transactions, leadership of clinical advisory boards, product development, clinical trials, commercial operations, and clinical services management. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM).

Dr. Mittendorff earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Stanford University. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. His academic training includes fellowships with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, MIT, and Harvard Business School.
